„Dive Bar“ ist Teil der gleichnamigen Holiday Kollektion von Essie. Es ist ein hübscher vielseitiger Schimmerlack, der je nach Lichtverhältnissen unterschiedlich aussieht. Drinnen bei normalem Tages- oder Kunstlicht sieht er die meiste Zeit so aus wie auf dem Bild oben. Der Gesamteindruck ist dann eher ein rauchiges Blau-Schwarz mit blaugrünem Schimmer. In der Flasche hat „Dive Bar“ auch noch einen leichten lilafarbenen Duochrome-Effekt, der aber auf den Nägeln nicht wirklich sichtbar ist. In der Sonne oder bei sehr starkem Kunstlicht sieht er aus wie auf dem Bild unten. Der Grundton ist dann eher Schwarz mit intensiv leuchtendem petroligem Schimmer.

Die Textur des Lackes ist nicht die beste. Er ist zwar sehr deckend, aber ich habe dennoch drei Schichten benötigt, da beim Lackieren der zweiten Schicht ein paar kleinere Lücken im bereits vorhandenen Lack entstanden sind (Cuticle Drag). Mit der dritten Schicht ist dann aber alles sehr schön gleichmäßig geworden. Die Haltbarkeit auf einem Essie-Basecoat ist gut.

"Dive Bar" is part of the correspondent Holiday Collection by Essie. It’s a pretty and versatile shimmer polish that looks very different depending on the lighting conditions. Indoors, in normal daylight or artificial light, it looks most of the time like on the first picture. The overall impression is more of a dark smoky blue with blue-green shimmer. In the bottle "Dive Bar" has also a slight purple duochrome, but this effect is not really visible on the nails. In the sun or in very strong artificial light it looks like on the second picture. The base color is then more black with an intense luminous teal shimmer.
The formula of the lacquer is not the best. It’s very opaque, but I had to do three coats, because there were some problems with cuticle drag. The third coat has smoothed everything out. The durability on an Essie Basecoat is good.

Heute gibt es einen Vergleich zwischen Orly – „Oui“ aus der „Holiday Soireé“-Kollektion und OPI – „It’s My Year“, welcher vor nicht allzu langer Zeit in der „Miss Universe“ Kollektion erschienen ist. Die beiden Lacke sind von der Machart her recht ähnlich, sind aber keine Dupes füreinander. Sie unterscheiden sich sowohl farblich, als auch von der Textur her.

„Oui“ hat eine dunklere Base, die deutlich blaustichiger ist. Auf dem letzten Bild habe ich das Wheel gegen das Licht fotografiert. Dort kann man den Unterschied der Base-Farben gut sehen.

„It’s My Year“ ist dünnflüssiger als „Oui“ und deckt nicht so gut. Man benötigt mindestens drei Schichten für ein gutes Ergebnis. „Oui“ deckt mit zwei Schichten.

Für mich ist „Oui“ der Gewinner; und wenn ich mich für einen der beiden entscheiden müsste, dann würde ich diesen nehmen. Der Kontrast zwischen dunkler kühler Base und dem hellen warmen Goldschimmer ist bei diesem Lack größer, was ihn in meinen Augen interessanter macht. Mir gefällt der blaustichige Lilaton auch etwas besser. Was die Textur anbelangt, hat er ebenfalls die Nase vorn.

Today I have a comparison between Orly - "Oui" from the "Holiday Soiree" Collection and OPI - "It's My Year" which was released in the "Miss Universe" Collection. The two lacquers look quite similar at first sight, but they are not dupes for each other. They vary both in color and formula.
"Oui" has a darker base, which is stronger blue toned. In the last picture I have photographed the wheel against the light. There you can see the difference of the base colors quite well.
"It's My Year" is thinner than "Oui" and covers less. One needs at least three coats for a good result. "Oui" covered with two coats.
For me "Oui" is the winner; and if I would have to decide for one of them, then I would take this one. The dark cool toned base and the warm golden shimmer is richer in contrast, which makes this polish more interesting to me. I like the bluish purple even better and it also has the lead in terms of formula.

„Oui“ ist ein weiterer Lack aus der „Holiday Soireé“ Weihnachtskollektion von Orly. Er besteht aus einer lilafarbenen Base mit etwas gröberem goldenem Schimmer, der ein folienartiges Finish erzeugt, welches je nach Lichteinfall golden oder lila reflektiert. Er deckt mit zwei Schichten, lässt sich prima auftragen, trocknet relativ schnell und funkelt wie verrückt. Ich finde diesen Lack richtig toll. :) Mir gefällt die Kombination von kühlem Lila mit dem warmen goldigen Schimmer. Ich finde, „Oui“ ist ein wirklich gelungener Lack für den Weihnachtsabend (oder andere festliche Anlässe). Er erinnert mich an Weihnachtskugeln, Lametta, Geschenkpapier, Kerzenlicht, feine Abendgarderobe und funkelndes Geschmeide. Dazu dann noch Kartoffelsalat und Bockwürstchen. Fragt sich nur, wann denn endlich die Geschenke kommen… :D

"Oui" is another lacquer from the "Holiday Soiree" Collection by Orly. It’s a purple base with foil shimmer that reflects golden or purple depending on the lighting. Application was fine. It covers with two coats, dries quickly and sparkles like crazy. I really like this one. :) I like the combination of cool toned purple with warm golden shimmer. I think, "Oui" is a really well done polish for the Christmas Eve (or other festive occasions). It reminds me of Christmas ornaments, tinsel, wrapping paper, candles, festive attire and sparkling jewels. Add to this potato salad and sausages (traditional German Christmas food for lazy people). And there remains only the most important question, when at last the presents will come. :D

Wenn man nur eine Schicht von „Purple Majesty“ aus der MAC Me Over! – Kollektion lackieren würde, könnte man mit etwas Wohlwollen sagen, es handle sich hierbei um ein sehr rötliches Violett. Nach der zweiten Schicht wird es für mein Empfinden allerdings eher Rot-Schwarz. Die Farbe finde ich wunderschön. Die Textur des Lackes allerdings nicht. Er ist für einen Jelly zu gut pigmentiert und für einen Cremelack zu schlecht. Ich wünschte er wäre mehr jelly, denn mir gefällt die Farbe an den Stellen, wo er so durchscheinend ist, super gut. Auch der Glanz ist phänomenal, wie sich das für einen Jelly gehört. Aber es ist leider unmöglich ihn sheer zu tragen, da er sich nicht gleichmäßig auftragen lässt und total streifig wird. Eine dritte Schicht hätte sicherlich nicht geschadet, um alles auszubügeln. Vielleicht kann man dem Lack mit Verdünner etwas auf die Sprünge helfen, denn die Konsistenz ist im Vergleich zu „Quiet Time“ relativ dickflüssig. Immerhin trocknet er schnell.

"Purple Majesty" from the MAC Me Over! - Collection tends only at the first coat towards a very reddish purple. After a second coat it's more a blackened red hue. The color is beautiful. The formula of the polish is not. It’s too good pigmented for a jelly and too bad for a cream. I wish it was more jelly, because I like the color at the spots where it is translucent really well. The shine is phenomenal, too, as it should be for a jelly. But it’s unfortunately impossible to wear this polish sheer, because it’s streaky and patchy at the first coat. A third coat would certainly not have hurt and evened all out. Maybe a little bit of polish thinner could fix this, because the consistency is relative thick compared to "Quiet Time" from the same collection. However, it dries quickly.

„Quiet Time“ aus der MAC Me Over! - Collection ist ein vergrauter beiger Cremelack mit einem klitzekleinen rosigen Twist. Ich liebe diese seltsame Farbe. :) Der Grauanteil bewirkt eine kühle Farbtemperatur, die sich ganz gut mit meinem Hautton verträgt.

Der Lack ist nicht besonders deckend, was wohl an der dünnflüssigen Konsistenz liegt. Man benötigt drei Schichten für ein gutes Ergebnis. Er trocknet relativ flott und die Haltbarkeit (auf einem Nailtiques Treatment) ist in Ordnung.

"Quiet Time" from the MAC Me Over! - Collection is a grayed out beige creme polish with a tiny pink twist. I love this odd color. :) The gray component brings a cool color temperature to it, which is quite compatible with my skin tone.
The polish is not very opaque, which is probably due to the thin consistency. It needs three coats for a good result. It dries relatively fast and the durability (on a Nailtiques Treatment) is okay.

„Androgynie“ ist Teil der kommenden Weihnachtskollektion „Holiday Soireé“ von Orly. Der Lack besteht aus einer schwarzen Jelly-Base mit microfeinem goldenem Glitter, kleinen Holopartikeln, die je nach Lichteinfall in unterschiedlichen Farben reflektieren, sowie größerem kunterbuntem hexagonalem Glitter.

Der Lack ist ein bisschen zickig, aber alles in allem nicht schlecht für einen Glitterlack. Er gefällt mir z.B. sowohl was die Optik, als auch die Qualität anbelangt, um Klassen besser als „Cosmic“ von China Glaze, der in eine ähnliche Richtung geht.

Der Auftrag ist ein bisschen tricky, da die Base sehr dickflüssig ist. Vermutlich soll dadurch der Glitter in der Flasche besser in der Schwebe gehalten werden. Da die größeren Teilchen aber denoch nach unten gefallen sind, habe ich die Flasche vor dem Lackieren einige Zeit auf den Kopf gestellt.

Die Base ist ziemlich deckend und man benötigt nur 2 Schichten um ein gutes Ergebnis zu erzielen. Der Nachteil ist, dass auf dem Nagel ein Teil des Glitters durch die Base verdeckt wird. Deshalb habe ich gewartet, bis der Lack vollständig getrocknet war (was erfreulicherweise relativ flott von statten ging) und habe dann mit einer fusselfreien Zellette und einer kleinen Menge Nagellackentferner ruckartig über die Nägel gewischt, um den Glitter ein bisschen zu befreien und mehr zum Funkeln zu bringen.

Man benötigt nach dieser Aktion unbedingt einen Topcoat, da der Entferner den Lack trüb aussehen lässt. Aber bei diesem Lack braucht man den ohnehin, da die Oberfläche aufgrund des Glitters ziemlich rauh ist. Zum Glück ist „Androgynie“ kein schlimmer Topcoat-Fresser wie der „Cosmic“. Eine Schicht eines dicken Topcoats hat ein relativ glattes Ergebnis erzielt, welches auch so geblieben ist.

Obwohl ich kein großer Glitter-Fan bin, mag ich die Optik des Lackes. Ich liebe schwarzen Nagellack und dieser erinnert mich an Großstadtlichter in einer verregneten Nacht... :)
Was mir nicht so gut gefällt, ist die Menge an Lack, die man dann letztlich auf dem Nagel hat und die dem Gesamtkunstwerk so einen wulstigen Look verleiht. Der Lack ist einfach zu dickflüssig und dann noch der dicke Topcoat… :-s Aber die Konsistenz ließe sich sicherlich auch mit Nagellackverdünner verbessern.

Die Haltbarkeit auf einem Nubar Basecoat ist in Ordnung. Trotz Glitter kein Abplatzen des Lackes und ich habe erst am dritten Tag leichtes Tipwear bekommen.

"Androgynie" is part of the upcoming collection "Holiday Soireé" from Orly. It’s a black jelly with microfine gold glitter, small holo particles, which reflect in different colors depending on the lighting, and larger colorful hexagonal glitter.
This polish is a bit difficult, but all in all not bad for a glitter. I like it for example in both terms of optics and quality better than "Cosmic" by China Glaze, which goes into the same direction.
Application is a bit tricky, as the base is very thick. Presumably to keep the glitter in the bottle in levitation, but the larger particles have fallen down anyway, so I turned the bottle upside down and allowed to stand for a while.
The base is fairly opaque and you only need two coats to achieve a good result. The disadvantage is that the glitter is partially covered by the base. That's why I've waited until the polish was completely dry (which was fortunately relatively fast) and then took a lint free nail wipe and a small amount of polish remover and wiped abruptly over the nails to free the glitter a bit and make it more sparkle. 

You will need necessarily a top coat after this action, because the remover makes the polish look dull. But you will need one anyway, because the finish is quite gritty due to the glitter. Fortunately, "Androgynie" is no wicked topcoat eater (such as the "Cosmic"). I went away with only one coat of a thick topcoat and achieved a relatively smooth result, which has remained.
Although I'm not a big glitter fan, I like the look of the lacquer. I love black polish and this one reminds me of big city lights at a rainy night... :)
What I don’t like, is the puffy look due to the amount of polish on my nails. The formula is too thick. But the consistency could certainly be improved with some nail polish thinner.
The durability on a nubar basecoat is okay. Despite the glitter there was no chipping and no tipwear until the third day.

MAC – Deep Sea (MAC Me Over! - Collection)

Da darf ich gleich relativieren, was ich in meinem vorherigen Post geschrieben habe. :) „Deep Sea“ ist der pigmentierteste Lack von den vieren aus der MAC Me Over!-Kollektion und es gibt an diesem Lack überhaupt nichts zu meckern. Die erste Schicht war zwar nach wie vor etwas streifig, aber auf grundierten Nägeln (Essie – Fill The Gap) deutlich weniger als auf dem Plastikwheel. Die zweite Schicht hat alles schön glatt gezogen und deckte perfekt. Der Glanz ist auch ohne Topcoat sehr schön und die Trocknungszeit ebenso. Die Farbe ist ein absoluter Traum und in meiner Sammlung einzigartig. Alle anderen Teal-Töne, die ich habe, sind deutlich blauer. „Deep Sea“ enthält einen kräftigen Schuss Grün und er ist zwar sehr dunkel, aber auch bei schlechter Beleuchtung definitiv nicht schwarz. Ich bin verliebt! :)

I have to qualify what I wrote in my previous post. "Deep Sea" is the most pigmented polish from the MAC Me Over! - Collection and there is nothing to complain about it. The first coat was still a little streaky, but on the primed nails (Essie - Fill The Gap) significantly less than on the plastic wheel. The second layer smoothed everything out and covered perfectly. The glossy finish is very nice even without topcoat and the drying time as well. The color is a dream and unique in my collection. All other shades of teal, which I have, are more on the blue side. "Deep Sea" has a strong green tint and is very dark, but even in dim lighting it is definitely not black. I'm in love! :)

MAC – MAC Me Over! - Nail Lacquer

Diese vier Lacke stammen aus der aktuellen Herbstkollektion „MAC Me Over!“ von MAC. Die ersten beiden „Purple Majesty“ und „Deep Sea“ sind sehr dunkle, satte und tiefe Farben. Die anderen beiden „Fatigues“ und „Quiet Time“ sind stark vergraute und dadurch eher dezente Töne. Mir gefallen die Farben richtig gut. :) Das Problem, welches MAC zwischenzeitlich mal mit den Pinseln hatte, haben sie zum Glück wieder in den Griff bekommen. Die Pinsel sind diesmal einwandfrei. Die Textur der Lacke ist aber leider eher mittelmässig. Die Lacke sind alle vier ziemlich sheer; lassen sich aber so sheer nicht tragen, da die erste Schicht streifig wird. Man benötigt insgesamt drei Schichten, um ein gleichmäßiges Ergebnis zu erzielen, was für mein Empfinden eine Schicht zu viel ist. Die Farben gefallen mir aber so gut, dass ich nicht allzu enttäuscht darüber bin. Ich freu mich schon riesig sie auszuprobieren… :)

These four polishes are from the current fall collection "MAC Me Over" by MAC. The first two "Purple Majesty" and "Deep Sea" are dark, rich and deep colors. The other two "Fatigue" and "Quiet Time" are grayed out and therefore rather subtle tones. I love the colors. :) The problem, which MAC had with the brushes, is fortunately solved in the meanwhile. The brushes are fine this time. The formula of the polishes is not so good. They are all rather sheer and application was streaky on the first coat. It takes three coats to achieve a consistent result, which is one coat to much for my taste. But I like the colors so well, that I'm not to disappointed. I can not wait to try them out... :)

Nubar – Black Polka Dot (Polka Dots Collection)

 "Black Polka Dot“ ist Teil der „Polka Dots Collection“ von Nubar, die aus zwei Lacken besteht: einem weißen und diesem schwarzen, der vor kurzem bei mir eingetrudelt ist.

„Black Polka Dot“ hat eine klare Base, die mit schwarzem microfeinem und größerem hexagonalen Glitter vollgepackt ist. (Wobei man eigentlich nicht von Glitter sprechen kann, denn weder die kleinen noch die größeren Partikel glitzern, sondern sind einfach nur schwarz glänzend.)

Auf den Bildern seht ihr eine Schicht „Black Polka Dot“ über Essie – „Tomboy No More“. Der Lack ist ein bisschen tricky aufzutragen, bereitet aber keine größeren Probleme. Es ist ausreichend Glitter in der Base vorhanden, so dass genügend am Pinsel haften bleibt, wenn man ihn einmal in den Lack eintaucht. Lediglich beim Verstreichen auf dem Nagel muss man ein bisschen Acht geben, um die Glitterteilchen gleichmäßig zu verteilen und nicht wieder vom Nagel zu wischen. Es empfiehlt sich einen Zahnstocher bereit zu halten, mit dem man einzelne Dots an Ort und Stelle bugsieren kann. Ich habe aber keinen benutzt und den Glitter auch mit dem Pinsel ganz gut verteilt bekommen.

Das untere Bild ist leider ziemlich verwackelt und mit Blitz aufgenommen, weshalb es auch noch total überbelichtet ist. Ich habe es aber dennoch eingefügt, weil die Dots auf dem hellen Rot mich an Marienkäfer erinnert haben, was ich ganz süß fand… :)

"Black Polka Dot" is part of the „Polka Dots Collection“, which arrived recently and consists of two polishes: a white and this black one.
"Black Polka Dot" is a clear base with microfine and larger hexagonal black glitter. (Although one can not really speak of glitter, because neither the small nor the larger particles are sparkling. They are just black and shiny.)
In the pictures you see one coat "Black Polka Dot" over Essie’s „Tomboy No More“. Application is a bit tricky, but with no major problems. The base is stuffed with glitter, so there sticks enough to the brush, when you dip it once into the lacquer. Only when you spread the glitter onto the nails, you have to be a little bit careful not to wipe it off with the next brushstroke. It is advisable to have a toothpick ready, with which one can maneuver single dots on the spot. But I didn’t use one and spreaded the glitter with the brush very well too.
The last picture is unfortunately quite blurred. It's taken with flash and therefore totally overexposed. I have posted it anyway, because the dots on the bright red backround reminds me of ladybugs, which I thought looks quite cute... :)

Comparison: Essie – Tomboy No More & Essie – Limited Addiction

Da die Frage aufkam, wie sehr „Limited Addiction“ aus Essies letztjähriger Herbstkollektion dem „Tomboy No More“ ähnelt, gibt es jetzt einen Vergleich der beiden.

„Tomboy No More“ ist dunkler als „Limited Addiction“. Er ist mehr jellymäßig, weshalb er drei Schichten benötigt, um richtig zu decken. „Limited Addiction“ ist nur ein halber Jelly, der schon mit 2 Schichten deckt und die Konsistenz ist dickflüssiger. „Tomboy No More“ ist einen Hauch kühler (blaustichiger). Beide sind ganz wunderschöne Rottöne. :-)

As the question came up, how similar "Limited Addiction" from Essie’s last year's fall collection and "Tomboy No More" are, I've compared the two. "Tomboy No More" is darker than "Limited Addiction". It’s more jelly, which is why it needs three coats to cover completely. "Limited Addiction" is only half a jelly. It needs just two coats and the consistency is thicker. "Tomboy No More" is a touch cooler (bluish). Both are very beautiful reds. :-)
